Bringing ideas to life through personas and narrative

From our user research, we identified four overriding themes around meal preparation and execution:

• managing multiple dishes is hard
• equipment constraints impact meal preparation
• aggregating and scaling multiple recipe ingredients requires a math PHD
• huge difference in cooking confidence between expert and novice cooks

We genereated two personas to reflect the findings from these user insights. The personas are a married couple, Kathy and Lyle Carlson. Kathy is a skilled and experienced cook, adept at planning events, whereas Lyle is a beginner who doesn't know what's what in the kitchen.
