Looked at four different wine recommendation / information sites: EasyWine.net, AppelationAmerica.com, DrinkWine.com, Snooth.com

Results

Some sites filter information based on the expertise level of the individual using the site. However, most are geared toward the more informed drinker, providing an immense amount of information.

Recommendations are either survey-based, where a series of questions leads to a wine, or rating-based, where previous visitors of the site have rated wines they enjoyed.
