Meet Laura
Laua Carman, 55, is a Family therapist. She is happily married with two children, 13 and 15. She enjoys viewing and collecting art, and tries to visit both museums and local galleries while on vacations and in new cities, to the chagrin of her less artistically inclined children and husband. She has a small art collection at home, acquired over many years, and on a small (for the art world) budget. She decorates her home with her acquisitions, and her office with reprints. While she has an appreciation for all art, she has a particular interest in southwest Native American painting. She doesn’t usually travel to specific locations for galleries, but she finds coming across them in her travels very exciting. A recent member of the facebook community, to her kid’s horror, she would enjoy creating her own gallery and would find the recommendations about artists and galleries very useful.
Meet Anna
Anna Rogan, 17, is a junior in high school. She enjoys painting and is in an AP art class. While she loves painting, she also realizes that it is a hobby and doesn’t think she wants to go to art school. Her favorite artist is Vermeer, and above her bed she has a poster of her favorite Vermeer painting, “The Geographer.” She is fascinated with his fidelity to real life. She also buys posters occasionally of other artists she likes, but since she doesn’t have a job, she is on a very tight budget. She is interested in posting her art online and has a few images on the web, but hasn’t found a site she loves. Anna would like to use this site to collect Vermeer paintings and other artists she likes so that she can view them regularly without being labels the “art freak” whose walls are plastered with artwork instead of rock band posters. She would be interested in uploading her own work to get feedback and even to show off a little.
