Research

Overview

The research preformed for this project was valuable for determining both the needs of art enthusiasts and the important elements of being a curator. We wanted to preserve the emotions associate with collecting and presenting art, and used our research to maintain fidelity to the world of art collecting. Our first step in achieving this was conducting interviews and directed storytelling with a curator, a small scale are collector, and a professional gallery owner.

Competitive analysis was conducted to see what kinds of sites exists already and what kinds of needs are still unmet. We also used this strategy to investigate various ways concrete spaces like buildings and rooms are depicted virtually in order to brainstorm ways to represent the gallery experience.

Brick and Mortar analysis was conducted during a visit a small family owned and operated art gallery.
