We studied travel blogs such as travelpod.com and travelblog.org to see the kind of interaction that happens there. We observed that photos annotated with personal remarks are an effective means of sharing experiences. Other people might rate and comment on the photos thus creating a social network of shared travel experiences.

Travel forums were found to be used for exchanging practical advices and travel tips such as things to carry, lodging etc. This again reaffirmed the importance of word of mouth as opposed to getting information from a standard resource such as a tourist guide.

Photo-sharing on social networking sites such as facebook and orkut is another mean of sharing travel experiences with friends and family.
