Brick and Mortar Observation

Club Cafe

Our team attended a 'Low Water' concert at Club Cafe in Southside, Pittsburgh to perform a Brick and Mortar Observation.

After talking to around 20 people there we collected a good range of data. Many people at the concert were there to support the band and were friends or friends of friends of the band. We assumed that since the band is relatively small that might be the reason for the above turnout.

Some people were there with friends and viewed the concert as a means to socialize. Some other attendees were there for the venue and others for the lifestyle. A few people attended as part of work for eg. one of the people we spoke to was there to review the band.

We also heard some stories of past concerts and how people liked to save memorabilia from such concerts. There was an underlying reminiscent tone to the stories we heard. A lady attending the concert told us about the "awesome" Grateful Dead concert she had attended and how she had found the ticket stubs to the concert in some old boxes recently when she was moving.

Some more observations we made were that some people viewed the concert as a social oppurtunity.
