Diminished Vision and Motor PrecisionIt's a fact of aging that we lose visual acuity as we get older, and our fine motor control is diminished. So designing for seniors means designing big! Seniors need larger font sizes, and larger buttons, so they can easily read and interact with the device. Increasing size helps compensate for diminished abilities. Reduced Memory and Cognitive AbilitiesWe can assist Seniors' through smart design.
Lack of Experience with Current TechnologyDon't assume that Seniors are familiar with common interface conventions. Keep things simple and obvious, as if the user has never used an iphone before, because they probably havn't Keep an awareness that we're trying to make someone's life more simple, not more complex. If Seniors feel like the device is too complicated, they won't use it. |
