Design Considerations

From our research, we compiled a list of considerations that we would include in our concepts. While we didn't intend to fulfill all of these considerations, we wanted to allow them to guide our ideation process.

  • Abandonability.
Users will be waiting for other shoppers, and we want them to be able to leave the kiosk immediately when they need to.

  • Social interaction.
People are much happier waiting when they have someone to talk to.

  • Partial distraction.
Users want to be entertained, but they often have other things to think about, such as watching merchandise or children. We want to design something engaging that doesn't require total attention.

  • Support "People Watching."
People love to watch other people as they wait, and maybe we can enhance this experience?

  • Use in seated-position.
Waiting people are often tired, and want to sit.
